Dear Dir. Warden:
Enclosed is export application XW031 dated November 28, 2022, received by the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission from Eastern Technologies, Inc. The application request the export of low-level radioactive waste in the form of small, solid particulate metal oxides consisting of cobalt-60, cobalt-58, and manganese-54 resulting from the decontamination of dissolvable protective clothing and other related items.
The material will be imported into the U.S. under the general import license pursuant to 10 CFR 110.27, and will be returned to United Arab Emirates, the originating country.
Before acting on this application, we request your views, in accordance with established procedures and from the overall perspective of the Executive Branch, as to whether the requested application meet the applicable criteria in the Atomic Energy Act of 1954, as amended.
