POPULATION NAME: Field Fabricated Tanks PREPARED BY: % h f N-M DATE:

POPULATIONS LIST SOURCE:

i The Population Items List (Attachment A) was established from the following tank specifications:

i 2323-MS-67 " Field Fabricated Tanks-Nuclear", including all DCA's and DECD's listed on Attachment B.

L 2323-MS-67A " Diesel Generator Oil Storage Tanks", including all DCA's and DECD's listed on Attachment B.

BASIS FOR ACCEPTING THE LIST:

The Project Specification Revision / Addendum Report dated July 22, 1983, was reviewed and Specifications MS-67 and MS-67A were found to be the only j~

specifications related to safety related field fabricated tanks. The i

contents of these specifications is the basis for the Population Items List.

A review of the safety related flow diagrams and other project tank specifications confirm that no additional safety related field fabricated

[

tanks exist. The FSAR Appendix 17A " List of Quality Assured Items" was

/

reviewed and the tanks listed in the Population List are also listed as J

safety related.

f The tanks have been determined to be final QC accepted by confirming that the ASME "N" stamp has been placed on,the tank nameplate.

For the

(

tanks that are readily accessible, the t'9e Boric Acid Storage Tanks and j

the two Recycle Holdup Tanks, a visual inspection of the nameplate showed that the stamp is applied to all four of these tanks. The Chicago Bridge and Iron, CBI, " Master Checklist" (equivalent to a traveler) has an attribute which releases the tank's for "N" stamp c

application. This Master Checklist attribute was checked for all tanks and found to be signed off in all cases.

POPULATION SOURCE VERIFICATION PROCEDURE 9.

FOR LARGE AND SMALL BORE PIPE SUPPORTS 6

1.0 PURPOSE Thig procedure delineates the verification of the source document and t

related input data. The objective is to verify, with a high level of confidence, that all supports which are safety related, work completed, j

inspected, and accepted by QC at Comanche Peak Steam Electric Station (CPSES) Units 1, 2 and common are listed on the source document.

I 2.0 METHOD

2.1 Background

The Hanger Installation Tracking System (HITS) is used by all construction site personnel for inputing and updating information related to pipe supports. This inputing is done on a daily basis through manual means and turned in for computer update prior to shift s

end.

Input is checked against output for accuracy.

1 The CPRT QA/QC discipline engineers concluded the HITS program would be used as the source for the population items list.

The completeness of the source document (HITS) has to be verified.

Due to the large number of supports, a statistical sample based on a source separate from HITS will be used for verification.

Large bore (rigid and non-rigid) and small bore safety related pipe supports are segments of HITS. To ensure that these segments are complete, the entire HITS program (both safety and non-safety related) shall be checked.

After establishing the validity and accuracy of HITS, those segments required for support populations will be segregated.

j 2.2 Source Verification t

2.2.1 A listing of Brown & R 't Banger Location (BREL) drawings j

shall be obtained.

From this listing, a random sample of 60 drawings shall be selected using the randos digit tables "A Million Randon Dimits" by the Rand Corporatior..

)

2.2.2 The supports shown on the randomly selected BREL drawings f

shall be checked against the RITS output to ensure that the astk numbers appear for those supports. This check provides the confidence necessary that the MITS program contains a total listing of all supports and can be used as a basis for s

defining the populations.

0[

t I

ATTACHMENT 1 2.2.3 The accuracy of the status of each support requires an additional check to be made. The HITS program contains a Task Force (TF) column which is meant to indicate current support construction status. The accuracy of the column

?

shall be checked by using all those supports from 2.2.1 and i

verifying that the HlTS output reflects the actual status.

3.0 RESULTS 3.1 From the listing of 2013 BRHL drawings a random sample of 60 vos obtained.

All supports from the random sample were manually checked against the output from the HITS program.

In all cases it was found that the supports were listed in the active, voided or deleted files of the HITS program.

The listing of supports from the 60 drawings was then used to check the accuracy of the Task Force (TF) column in HITS. The status of each support was manually checked against records in the various vaults and processing areas as indicated on HlTS. Again, in every case, the status of each support as indicated in HlTS matched that of the physical record location.

4.0 CONCLUSION

S 4.1 From the overall sampling and review of documentation, records and i

computer program output, there exists a high degree of confidence that the HlTS program can be considered a viable source for population lists and iten status therein.

t 4.2 Ensinn the verification en the entire HITF progran :ather than jurt j

safety related. QC accepted items allowed an unbiased approach to be made.

}

This approach makes it possible to draw our source from a segment of the entire population.
