Georgia Power Company hereby submits the following information as a supplemental response to Inspection Report 82-08 concerning the inspection conducted by Mr. B. R. Crowley of your office on March 2-5 and 16-19,1982.
This supplcaent specifically addresses the response to the " admission or denial of alleged violation" submitted by our letter dated May 12, 1982.

Crowley has requested a clarification of our response to the admission / denial of violation statement.
The clarification is offered as follows for your review and consideration:
REASON FOR THE VIOLATION - The violation occurred because the CB&I Welding Inspector accepted a weld joint fit-up which was not in conformance with the drawing.
The drawing showed a joint with a 15-degree double bevel.
The joint, as fit-up, had a 15-degree single bevel.
Georgia Power Company agrees with C8&I's response that the degree of beval in this particular instance was not a critical factor in the integrity of the weld joint.
The fact remains that the violation was due to failure to comply with the design drawing which shows a specific weld bevel.
