The inspector was dispatched to the site in order to verify the licensee's

preparedness for possible damage due to Hurricane David. The inspector

reviewed Standing Order No. 2, Hurricane Warning Check Off Sheet. The

licensee was performing periodic tests on all safety related pumps and the

diesel generators to verify operation. The inspector was in contact with

the Region II Office on an hourly basis in order to recieive an update of

the weather conditions and to track the hurricane. The inspector also

verified that enough security, maintenance and engineering personnel were

available onsite in the event the weather conditions worsened. The licen

see shut down the plant to Hot Shutdown at approximately 1:30 a.m. on

September 5, 1979 as a precaution due to the worsening weather situation.

No damage was done to the plant during the storm. The plant was returned

to power at 10:30 a.m. on September 5, 1979.
