POPULATIONS LIST SOURCE:

l 1

The source is a list generated by Brown and Root from concrete pour cards. The list is in the form of a computer printout.

I BASIS FOR ACCEPTING THE LIST:

The population list items includes all safety-related concrete pours in Unit 1, 2 and areas common to both units.

The pour list provided by Brown and Root represents a log used to record concrete placed. This log, kept by Brown & Root, was generated from individual concrete Pour Cards, which were required to be signed by Construction and QC before each individual concrete placement, includes the pour designated number, date poured, and description of area poured.

A separate check was done by compiling 20 arbitrarily chosen pour numbers assigned in the Brown & Root Lift (concrete placement) Drawings against the pourt card file kept at the TUCCO Vault, and verifying that the information matches the pour list.

In addition the pour list was reviewed against an arbitrary selection of four Inspection Report Logs, to determine agreement with pour designated numbers provided by the pour list. -These independent checks i

indicated, in all cases, agreement with the pour list.

t To assure accuracy and completeness, the pour list was reviewed to confirm that pour dates covered all periods with no apparent gap.

ATTACIIM.FNT B EXCLUDED ATTRIBUTES The following attributes were considered for inclusion in the checklist, but were subsequently excluded for the reason presented.

1.

Variation from Pluab.

It is not considered to be a safety significant ites.

b 2.

Embeddaent Location. The location of an embeddaent is important to the attachment of the component being supported (e.g., liVAC duct j

supports, etc.).

And as such its relationship is included as part 1

of the component attribute.

It is not a safety significant item

.i affecting concrete.

ALTERNATE ACCEPT / REJECT CRITERIA 1.

Location. Tolerances relating to member location have been increased from those required by G&H Spec. 2323-SS-9 which in paragraph 8.4a invokes the construction forework tolerances of ACI 301-72. The reason for the increased tolerances is that the specification tolerances are used to control construction whereas those contained in the checklist instructions, although larger, are less than those which are considered to be safety significant.

2.

Size. G&R Spec. 2223-S5-9, paragraph 8.4a refers to ACI 301-72 for construction forework tolerances. The safety significant tolerances contained in the checklist instructions are taken from AC1 318-71, paragraph 7.3.2.1.

The introduction to ACI 301-72 states, in part, "It is intended that these specifications be compatible and consistent with, but not necessarily identical to, those of...ACI 318-71.

(ACI 318-71) sets minimum standards necessary to protect the public. Higher standards may be set by these specifications to assure the owner of the level of aesthetic quality and performance he expects the structure to provide."

~

3.

Surface Inspection. There is no definition given in either the C&H or ACI Specifications for honeycombing and voids. The definitions contained in the checklist instruction are given as a means of defining a condition within the safety significant threshold, and agrees with QI-QP-11.05, Inspection of Concrete Repairs, 4.

Embedded plate mark numbers are being reinspected to provide assurance beyond the documentation review that the correct (place configuration and thickness, stud number and size) plate has been installed.

5.

Cracks. No acceptance criteria has been indicated beca se none exist by code on practice.

6.

Patches. There is no acceptance criteria given by codes or y

specifications. The procedure provided in the checklist is based on standard practice.
