This letter provides additional information in support of NRC review of Amendment Applicatiens 171 and 157 for the San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station Units 2 anti 3 (Reference 1). This additional information was requested by the NRC on January 30, 1998 (Reference 2). ;
Reference 1 requested NRC approval to install digital radiation monitors at f g the San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station, Units 2 and 3, for both trains supplying the containment purge isolation signal. Provided in this letter was Calculation J-SPA-289, "ESFAS Radiation Monitor Software Common Mode Failure Evaluation." In this calculation, a number of other documents were ,
referenced. To complete the review of the proposed license amendment, the NRC Q 4#
has requested (Reference 2) those documents referenced in Calculation .
