CP-86-73 (INTERIM REPORT)
Dear Mr. Johnson:
On October 20, 1986, we verbally notified your Mr. Ian Barnes of a deficiency involving installation of ASME snubber attachment brackets. This is an interim report of a potentially reportable item under the provisions of 10CFR50.55(e).
A drawing review of all ASME snubbers was conducted to verify the adequacy of swing clearances. 1063 snubbers were identified as having attachment brackets with attributes which could potentially result in restricted movement and/or binding of the snubber. As a result of field examination, the number of snubbers of concern has been reduced to 165. These remaining snubbers require additional field checks to complete the evaluation.
We are continuing our evaluation of this issue and anticipate submitting our next report by December 23, 1986.
