The Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff has reviewed the FPL Energy Duane Arnold, LLC, Duane Arnold Energy Center (DAEC) relief request number NDE-R012, which proposes an alternative from American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code (Code), Section XI, 2001 Edition, 2003 Addenda, requirement IWA-4221, Construction Code and Owners Requirements, to allow weld procedure specifications for seal welding of the installed and spare Main Steam Relief Valves (MSRVs) to be post-qualified in accordance with ASME Code Section XI requirements, and the NRC staff has determined that additional information is necessary to complete the review.
