FROM THE EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS PLAN DOCKET NOS. 50-334 AND 50-412 The following questions pertain to the assumptions listed on pages 3 and 4 of the report titled, Technical Review of the Beaver Valley Nuclear Power Station Proposed Modification of the Alert and Notification System, dated June 10, 2002, which is contained as part of Enclosure 3 of FirstEnergy Nuclear Operating Companys September 27, 2002, application:

1. The report assumes that the tree immediately south of siren 146 has been cropped below the siren elevation or has been removed and that procedures are in place to prevent recurrence of tree interference. Discuss the remedy to the tree south of siren 146 and how reoccurrence shall be prevented?
2. Discuss the methods by which Siren Model 2001 testing was conducted.
3. Discuss the methods by which the annual 2002 testing was conducted and the results of the areas that were previously not tested. In particular, discuss the testing in areas south of sirens 77 and 220 and west of siren 57.
4. What test results were resubmitted to the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and did FEMA provide concurrence with the testing results?
