Dear Mr. Hamilton:

This letter confirms the telephone conversation between Mr. Ken Ash of your staff and me on August 28, 2008, concerning a Regulatory Conference, being conducted at your request, which has been scheduled for September 18, 2008, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. (EDT). The meeting notice, which provides additional details, is enclosed. The purpose of the Regulatory Conference is to discuss the risk significance of the inspection finding documented in Inspection Report 05000369,370/2008008. This finding concerns the apparent failure to take adequate corrective action related to implementation of a safety-related service water strainer backwash system.

PURPOSE:

The purpose of the Regulatory Conference is to discuss the risk significance of the inspection finding documented in Inspection Report 05000369,370/2008008. This finding concerns the apparent failure to take adequate corrective action related to implementation of a safety-related service water strainer backwash system. This finding was preliminarily characterized as Greater than Green (i.e., an issue having more than very low safety significance). The NRCs Policy Statement, Enhancing Public Participation in NRC Meetings, effective May 28, 2002, applies to this meeting.
