Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation Items of Interest Week Ending April 4, 2025 The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) Issued Information Notice 2025-002 Implementation of the Real ID Act of 2005 and Considerations for NRC Nuclear Power Plant Licensees On March 28, 2025, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) issued Information Notice 2025-002 Implementation of the Real ID Act of 2005 and Considerations for NRC Nuclear Power Plant Licensees (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS)

Accession No. ML25043A220). The purpose of this information notice is to remind licensees and applicants of the requirements of the REAL ID Act of 2005 and its applicability to NRC regulations and guidance associated with personnel access authorization programs for nuclear power plants. This information notice also conveys the NRCs decision to implement a phased enforcement plan, under which the NRC will not begin card-based enforcement of REAL ID compliant State-issued drivers licenses and identification cards for purposes of entering nuclear power plants until May 5, 2027.

Long Mott Energy Submitted a Construction Permit Application for the Long Mott Generating Station (LMGS) Which Would be Sited in Calhoun County, Texas On March 31, 2025, Long Mott Energy, LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of The Dow Chemical Company, submitted a construction permit application for the Long Mott Generating Station (LMGS) which would be sited in Calhoun County, Texas. The LMGS project would be used to demonstrate the X-energy high-temperature gas-cooled reactor technology and is supported by the Department of Energys Advanced Reactor Demonstration Program.

Duke Energy Progress, LLC Submitted a Subsequent License Renewal Application of Operating License No. DPR-23 for H.B. Robinson Steam Electric Plant, Unit 2 On April 1, 2025, Duke Energy Progress, LLC submitted a subsequent license renewal application of Operating License No. DPR-23 for H.B. Robinson Steam Electric Plant, Unit 2 (ML25091A290). The initial operating license was issued on July 31, 1970. The initial renewed license was issued on April 19, 2004. The current renewed license expires on July 31, 2030.
