Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation Items of Interest Week Ending December 22, 2023 NRC Staff Issued License Amendment to Quad Cities Nuclear Power Station, Units 1 and 2
On December 17, 2023, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission staff issued an amendment to the Quad Cities Nuclear Power Station, Units 1 and 2 (ML23349A162). The amendment was submitted on December 13, 2023, as an emergency amendment pursuant to 10 CFR 50.91(a)(5). The amendment revised the completion time for one inoperable emergency diesel generator from 7 to 14 days and postponed surveillance requirements on the other station diesel generators during the extended outage time. The emergency circumstances were created by an unplanned failure of the Unit 1 emergency diesel generator during the monthly load surveillance on December 11, 2023.
