- dom, RS-04-121 August 11, 2004 U. S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission ATTN : Document Control Desk Washington, DC 20555-0001 Byron Station, Units 1 and 2 Facility Operating License Nos. NPF-37 and NPF-66 NRC Docket Nos. STN 50-454 and STN 50-455 10 CFR 50.90 Subject :
Request to Normalize License Amendment Numbers for Byron Station, Units 1 and 2 References :
(1)
Letter from U.S. NRC to Christopher M. Crane (Exelon Generation Company, LLC), "Issuance of Amendment for Irradiation of Four Lead Test Assemblies - Byron Station, Unit 1 (TAC No. MC1 520)"
(2)
Letter from Kenneth A. Ringer (Exelon Generation Company, LLC) to U.S. NRC, "Request for a License Amendment to Revise the Pressurizer Safety Valves Lift Settings," dated June 27, 2003 In Reference 1, the NRC issued License Amendment No. 137 for Byron Station, Unit 1.
The amendment approved a change in the fuel rod average burnup limit from 60,000 megawatt-days per metric tonne uranium (MWD/MTU) to 65,000 MWD/MTU for four lead test assemblies during Byron Station, Unit 1 Cycle 13. This amendment was applicable to the Unit 1 operating license only resulting in an intentional and necessary disparity between the Unit 1 and Unit 2 license amendment numbers.
The next sequential license amendment numbers for Byron Station, Unit 1 and Unit 2 are 138 and 137, respectively
. In order to maintain consistency between the Unit 1 and Unit 2 license amendment numbers, we are requesting that the next license amendment issued to Byron Station, Units 1 and 2, be issued as Amendment No. 138 for both units; thereby skipping Amendment No. 137 for Unit 2. The next amendment to the Unit 1 and Unit 2 operating licenses is anticipated to be the approval of the request addressed in Reference 2.
