Notification of Deviation from BWRVIP-42 River Bend Station - Unit 1 Docket No. 50-458 License No. NPF-47 This letter provides notification of a deviation from the Boiling Water Reactor Vessel and Internals Project (BWRVIP) guidelines for River Bend Station. This is a deviation from the performance of inspection in accordance with the examination schedules of BWRVIP-42 Revision 1, "BWR Vessel and Internals Project, LPCI Coupling Inspection and Flaw Evaluation Guidelines," (EPRI Report 1020999, June 2010).
This is a deviation from a "needed" element of the BWRVIP program to perform inspections in accordance with the guidance of BWRVIP-42. The 6-1a weld on the 135 degree coupling, which is prioritized as High, was not reinspected during Refuel Outage (RF) 15 with the rest of the 135 degree welds nor was it reinspected within the 12 year inspection cycle. In addition to the inadvertent missed reinspection of 6-1a, the 100% re-inspection of the High and Low priority locations within the 12 year time frame as specified in BWRVIP-42 was not met. The inspection of the 6-1 a weld on the 135 degree coupling has been scheduled for the next refueling outage which is RF-18 (2015).
This deviation from the BWRVIP guidelines has been reviewed and approved in accordance with Entergy procedures and NEI 03-08 guidance. This is a notification of deviation only, and no action is being requested from the NRC.
The attachment to this letter provides a summary of the regulatory commitment made in this submittal.
