NRC TO MEET WITH ENTERGY TO DISCUSS AUGMENTED INSPECTION TEAM FINDINGS The meeting is open for public observation.

The Nuclear Regulatory Commission will hold a public meeting with officials of Entergy Operations, Inc. Friday, May 31, to discuss conclusions of the Augmented Inspection Team sent to the plant last week. The meeting, which will be open for public observation, will take place at 11 a.m. in Reeves E. Ritchie Training Center Auditorium at Arkansas Nuclear One, near Russellville, Arkansas.

The Augmented Inspection Team was sent to Arkansas Nuclear One, Unit 1, following an electronics failure in the feedwater system which lead to an unplanned plant shutdown.

The shutdown was complicated when main steam safety relief valves opened and one of the valves failed to shut as designed.

This lead to one steam generator boiling dry.

There were no injuries or plant damage and repairs have been completed.

Unit 1 returned to full power operation late last week.

NRC officials will be prepared to answer questions from the public or press after the meeting concludes.
