This is in response to your letter dated July 30, 1980, in which you requested published reports on uranium mining and milling including reports on exploration and hazards associated with mining and milli.ng.

I am enclosing two reports which have been published on uranium mills; one is the Draft Generic Environmental Impact Statement on Uranium Milling (GEIS) which you requested. The Final GEIS is scheduled to be published later this year and will be sent to you when it is available.

Codified public coments on the draft GEIS and responses have been 9

included in Appendix A of the Final GEIS. The original comments received are available for copying at 8C per page in the Nuclear Regulatory Comis-sion's Public Document Room, 1717 H Street, N. W., Washington, D. C. 20555.

There are approximately 2,000 pages of comments.

Please reference the project number (M-25) on any request to the PDR.

The NRC does not have regulatory authority over the mining of uranium ore, which is governed by various state and federal laws. Therefore, I do not have any publications about mining exploration or hazards.
