ACTIVATED CHARCOAL

Addressees

All holders of operating licenses for nuclear power reactors, except those who have permanently ceased operations and have certified that fuel has been permanently removed from the reactor vessel.

Discussion A typographical error has been identified in Generic Letter 99-02, 'Laboratory Testing of which Nuclear-Grade Activated Charcoal," issued on June 3, 1999, that makes the sentence in it appears technically incorrect. This sentence appears in two places, namely, in Requested Actions 2 and 3, on page 7 of the generic letter. The affected sentence reads "If the system has a face velocity greater than 10 percent of 0.203 m/s (40 ft/min), then the revised TS

the

[technical specification] should specify the face velocity." This sentence should read 'If

(40 ft/min), then the revised system has a face velocity greater than 110 percent of 0.203 m/s TS should specify the face velocity."
