CAUSE/CORRECTIVE ACTION/COMMENTS:
NARRATIVE REPORT Unit I began the month of August operating at rated thermal power. Shift reduced load to approximately 550 GMWe
(-1795 CMWT) on August 1 to perform a control rod sequence exchange, scram time testing, main turbine valve testing, and to repair a leak in the "A" Stator Cooling Water Heat Exchanger. Inspection and maintenance activities were also performed in the Condenser Bay and Turbine Building while at reduced load. Shift returned the unit to rated thermal power on August 2. Shift reduced load to approximately 760 GMWe (-2350 CMWT) on August 5 due to increased vibration on the A' Reactor Feed Pump. The unit was returned to rated thermal power on August 6.
Shift reduced load to approximately 820 GMWe (-2525 CMWT) on August 9 after power was momentarily lost to the fans on the Helper Cooling Tower, due to a lightning strike, and main condenser vacuum began to degrade.
The fans cycled back on as designed, and the unit was returned to rated thermal power later the same day.
Shift reduced load to approximately 845 GMWe (-2620 CMWT) on August 16 to perform control rod drive exercises and main turbine valve testing. The unit was returned to rated thermal power on August 17. Shift reduced load to approximately 835 GMWe (-2620 CMWT) on August 30 to perform a control rod pattern adjustment. The unit was returned to rated thermal power on August 31. Shift maintained unit operation at rated thermal power for the remainder of the month.
