Adoption of NAC-UMS System, Amendment No. 9 Certificate of Compliance and Canister Registration In accordance with 10 CFR 72.212(b)(2) and 10 CFR 72.4, Maine Yankee Atomic Power Company (Maine Yankee) is notifying the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) that the 60 AC-UMS canisters storing spent nuclear fuel at the Maine Yankee site in Wiscasset, Maine will now be registered to Amendment No. 9 ofNAC-UMS Certificate of Compliance No. 72-1015 (Reference 1). Concurrently with the registration of the canisters to Amendment No. 9 ofNAC-UMS Certificate of Compliance No. 72-1015, Maine Yankee adopted Renewed Amendment No. 9, Revision No. 0 of the NAC-UMS Certificate of Compliance No. 72-1015 (Reference 2).

Previously, Maine Yankee had registered those 60 canisters with the NRC to Amendment No. 6 ofNAC-UMS Certificate of Compliance No. 72-1015 (Reference 3).

On March 28, 2024, (Reference 4) as supplemented by email dated October 30, 2024 (NRC Accession No. ML24304B052), Maine Yankee requested exemptions from certain requirements in Part 72 of Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations to permit adoption of Amendment No.

9 of AC-UMS Certificate of Compliance o. 72-1015. On January 31, 2025, the NRC granted the exemptions (Reference 5). Subsequently, Maine Yankee performed a technical evaluation to reconcile from Amendment No. 6 to Amendment No. 9 and Renewed Amendment o. 9, Revision No. 0 ofNAC-UMS Certificate of Compliance No. 72-1015.

In accordance with 10 CFR 72.212(b )(2), Maine Yankee hereby provides notification that the 60 canisters previously registered to NAC-UMS Amendment 6 will now be registered to the NAC-UMS System, Amendment No. 9 (Reference 1). Concurrently, Maine Yankee adopted Revision 18 of the Final Safety Analysis Report for the NAC-UMS System (Reference 6).

Additionally, Maine Yankee conducted the evaluations and reviews within the defined time period required by Conditions 8 and 9 of the Renewed Amendment No. 9, Revision No. 0 of the NAC-UMS Certificate of Compliance No. 72-1015, respectively.
