NOTICE OF WITHDRAWAL OF INSPECTION PROCEDURE 87131 This memorandum is to inform you that Inspection Procedure (IP) 87131, Nuclear Medicine Programs, Written Directive Required, has been withdrawn. Please look in your systems and databases to identify whether any references to IP 87131 exist and whether they should be corrected. Also, please notify your staff of this administrative change.
In 2021, the Materials Inspection Program Working Group recommended restructuring inspection procedures within the Nuclear Materials Program to increase efficiency. The Working Groups proposal included the merger of two inspection procedures (87130 and 87131) into one comprehensive procedure.
IP 87130, Nuclear Medicine Programs, Written Directive Not Required (ML023370121),

The revised IP 87130, Nuclear Medicine Programs (ML22063A454) was issued on April 26, 2022, and this revision included components from both procedures. After the newly revised August 20, 2025 Bloomer, Tamara signing on beh of Silberfeld, Dafna on 08/20/25
procedure was issued, IP 87131 should have been administratively withdrawn. Recently, management instructed staff to fix this administrative error and to have IP 87131 removed from the NRCs inspection manual.
Inspection Manual Chapter 2800, Materials Inspection Program, (ML23102A024) omitted reference to IP 87131 in Enclosure 1, Management Directives, Inspection Manual Chapters, and Inspection Procedures when it was re-issued on June 16, 2023.
