No: 25-017 April 8, 2025 CONTACT: Scott Burnell, 301-415-8200 NRC Makes Available Robinson Nuclear Plants License Renewal Application The Nuclear Regulatory Commission has made available an application from Duke Energy Progress to renew for a second time the operating license of Robinson Steam Electric Plant Unit 2, in Hartsville, South Carolina.

Duke filed the application on April 1, seeking to allow Robinson to operate for an additional 20 years of operation. Robinsons pressurized-water reactor, about 26 miles northwest of Florence, South Carolina, is currently licensed to operate through July 31, 2030.

The NRC staff is reviewing the application to determine if it is sufficiently complete to begin the agencys extensive safety and environmental reviews. Information about the license renewal process is available on the NRC website. A copy of the Robinson license renewal application will be available at the Hartsville Memorial Public Library, 147 West College Avenue in Hartsville.
