No: 23-053 August 29, 2023 CONTACT: Ivonne Couret, 301-415-8200 NRC to Hold Hybrid Meeting on Nuclear Industry Codes and Standards The Nuclear Regulatory Commission will hold the 2023 Standards Forum on Sept. 13 as a hybrid meeting. This is the 7th annual forum to facilitate discussion on the nuclear industrys needs and priorities relating to codes and standards.

There will be opportunities to discuss areas where the NRC and standards development organizations can collaborate to accelerate the development of codes and standards and streamline the agencys review and endorsement of these codes and standards in its regulations and regulatory guides.

The forum, hosted by the NRCs Office of Nuclear Regulatory Research, includes topics on codes and standards for advanced reactor technologies, international initiatives, risk-informed and performance-based standards, and development of standards for artificial intelligence systems.

The conference will run from 10:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Eastern time at NRC headquarters in the Two White Flint North Auditorium, 11555 Rockville Pike, North Bethesda, Maryland, and virtually for those who cannot attend in person.
