NuScale Nonproprietary Response to SDAA Audit Question Question Number: A-3.4.2-2 Receipt Date: 07/03/2023 Question:
Section 3.4.2.1 states that Table 2.0-1 provides site parameter probable maximum flood and maximum groundwater elevations. Section 3.4.2.1 also states that the yard is graded to slope away from these buildings. Some necessary details are missing.
a.
Provide the information on design features for protecting the safety-related and risk-significant SSCs in the below-grade portions of the Seismic Category I structures from ground water intrusion.
b.
Provide the minimum slope required for the yard to slope away from these buildings.
c.
Provide the baseline plant elevation.
d.
Provide the elevation of the finished grade for all these buildings comparing with the baseline plant elevation.
Response
Item A:
As stated in SDAA Section 3.4.2.1, the design is a Dry Site where SC-I structures are protected from external floods and groundwater. COL Item 3.4-4 requires an applicant to determine the extent of waterproofing and damp proofing needed for the underground portion of the RXB based on site-specific conditions.
Items B, C, D:
Minimum slope and grade elevations are summarized in Table 1.
