The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff conducted the meeting in accordance with NRC Management Directive 3.5, Attendance at NRC Staff-Sponsored Meetings (ML21180A271). The main points of discussion during the meeting included:
On January 24, 2023, the NRC staff held a closed meeting with TerraPower. The purpose of the meeting was for TerraPower to provide the NRC staff with an overview of the fuel handling process and equipment overview for the Natrium design. Participants included representatives from TerraPower, the U.S. Department of Energy, General Electric Hitachi, Bechtel, and Duke Energy. The list of meeting attendees is provided in the enclosure to this summary.
The NRC staff began the meeting with introductions and explained that the meeting would be closed due to the discussion of proprietary information. During the meeting, TerraPower provided the NRC staff with an overview of the Natrium reactor, the fuel handling process and equipment overview for the Natrium design. TerraPower representatives and the NRC staff discussed the next steps for future interactions regarding the Natrium Reactor design.
