Chris Allen The TEAMS call began at approximately 1:30 P.M. NRC staff explained that they were seeking clarification on the types and numbers of neutron source assemblies (NSAs) that HDI wanted to load under their March 24, 2022 exemption request. The NRC asked what types of NSAs HDI wanted to load in addition to Plutonium-Beryllium (Pu-Be). HDI stated they wanted to load Californium-252 (Cf-252) and Antimony-Beryllium (Sb-Be) NSAs. The NRC asked what was the maximum number of Cf-252 and Sb-Be NSAs HDI wanted to load. HDI responded that, because all Cf-252 and Sb-Be NSAs stored in the pools had sufficient decay time, the maximum number would be thirty-two. The NRC asked, for the situation where HDI loaded five Pu-Be NSAs, would HDI load fuel assemblies that have Cf-252 and Sb-Be NSAs having sufficient decay time in the remaining basket locations if necessary or if the opportunity arose. HDI stated that they would.
