SUMMARY
OF THE MAY 16, 2022, PARTIALLY OPEN TO THE PUBLIC MEETING BETWEEN THE U.S. NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION AND X ENERGY, LLC REGARDING X ENERGY LLCS XE-100 SEISMIC ANALYSIS On May 16, 2022, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff held a partially open to the public meeting with representatives from X Energy, LLC (X-energy) to discuss the Xe-100 seismic analysis. The public meeting notice and agenda are available in Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) under Accession No. ML22117A152.
The presentation slides, presented by X-energy, for the public portion of the meeting are available in ADAMS (ML22140A262). The Enclosure provides the list of meeting attendees.
The meeting began with X-energy representatives providing background information on the Xe-100 reactor design. The expectation is that the design would be appropriate for a broad range of site geotechnical characteristics to meet both domestic and international needs for clean, secure, and flexible energy. X-energy mentioned the use of guidance in NEI 18-04, Risk-Informed Performance-Based Technology Inclusive Guidance for Non-Light Water Reactors (ML19241A472), Regulatory Guide 1.232, Guidance for developing principal design criteria for non-light water reactors (ML17325A611), and other regulatory guidance for the civil-structure design, seismic classification, and seismic analysis.
X-energy discussed the Xe-100 site layout that included an explanation of its buildings and structures followed by the seismic design basis analysis. After the presentation, the NRC staff and X-energy had an opportunity for an open discussion regarding the material presented.
X-energy representatives stated that the input received from the NRC staff will be incorporated in the white paper that X-energy plans to submit regarding this topic.

G. Oberson Following the open to the public portion of the meeting, X-energy continued their discussion that involved proprietary information.
In accordance with Management Directive 3.5, Attendance at NRC Staff-Sponsored Meetings (ML21180A271), a portion of the meeting was closed because the discussion involved proprietary details related to the X-energy licensing strategy.
X-energy intends to continue to engage with the NRC staff regarding this and several other topics as part of the pre-application activities for the Xe-100 design. X-energy plans to submit a white paper in the summer of 2022 for the NRC staffs informal feedback.
There were no questions from the public at the end of the meeting.
