OF MARCH 17, 2022, CLOSED MEETING WITH TENNESSEE VALLEY AUTHORITY TO DISCUSS RECENTLY IDENTIFIED ERRORS POTENTIALLY AFFECTING THE BROWNS FERRY ATRIUM 11 LICENSE AMENDMENT REQUEST (EPID L-2021-LLA-0132)
On March 17, 2022, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff held a closed meeting with representatives of Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA, the licensee) and its fuel vendor, Framatome, to discuss recently identified errors that have a potential impact on the license amendment request (LAR) to transition to ATRIUM 11' fuel for Browns Ferry Nuclear Plant (Browns Ferry), Units 1, 2, and 3.
The meeting notice and agenda, dated March 7, 2022, are available in the Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) at Accession Nos. ML22066B314.
Framatome did not provide its presentation slides to the NRC, but did share them on the screen during the meeting. A list of participants is enclosed.
During the closed meeting, Framatome described the errors and the impacts on some of the analyses that were submitted in support of the Browns Ferry LAR to transition to ATRIUM 11' fuel. TVA plans to submit proprietary and non-proprietary versions of a Framatome summary report in April that will document the errors and impacts.
No regulatory decisions were made at this meeting.
