An addition is proposed to the Technical Specifications for the UCI TRIGA reactor as a result of an issue raised during our last NRC inspection. Our current version does not explicitly permit deferred surveillance during shutdown or reactor operation in order to complete deferred and/or overdue surveillance following a prolonged shutdown such as we experienced in 1994.
We propose adding the attached deflnition, copied verbatim from the Technical Specifications for the University of Texas, Austin to cover this issue.
We trust that this addition will meet with your approval. We do not believe that there is any impact on safety from this amendment.
We would also use this opportunity to update the names of senior level administration personnel for the reactor at the University of California, Irvine. In addition, changes have been made in telephone area codes, prefixes and the campus zip code during the last four years. Please verify and adjust your records accordingly.
