By letter dated November 4, 1987, MIT requested the possession limits'of' I

. Materials License No. SNM-986 be~ amended to include.2 mg U-233.for storage.-

This material was not previously listed-in..the license, but was acquired.by MIT more than 25 years!ago for research purposes under en AEC grant. The' licensee'is planning to request the transfer of this material' to the-Department of Energy.

Established management systems and procedurer at MIT are adequate to assure.

that the. material will be stored ~ properly, and without threat, to the health and safety of-the workers or the public.
