INTRODUCTION The Division of PWR Licensing-B is implementing a database management system (MAMAMIA) effective immediately to track workload projections for the Division. The system has been c'reated to be used on the IBM PC and i
has been developed to the extent that it is " User Friendly" and does not require a knowledge of "0 Base." This system will allow PWR-B management to maintain control of the workload for the Division and will enable Division management, Project Managers and Technical Reviewers to monitor their workload and schedules through the use of many different reports.
Project Manager and Technical Reviewers will be using a modified version of the management system. This system is known as "TACMAN." The reports generated from the system can be modified for the User's need. The primary purpose of creating the management system is to provide the PM and tech-nical review branches with an interactive capability to not only be cogni-zant of, but also have the ability to better inform management of the i
progress and status of their respective workloads. The management system is only as viable as the input and, therefore, it is incumbent on all PWR-B staff to be cognizant of the need to ensure the integrity of the system.
1 If you have suggestions / comments for improving the management system, please contact Charlie Miller on Ext. 27066.

l To access the appropriate selection item, enter selection number when requested by typing one digit, i.e., 1-9.
Instructions will appear on the screen.
Each record consists of 5 screens of data.
A listing of abbreviations for Project Directorates and Technical Review Branches is shown in Appendix 1 (see page 24).
In entering data on the Project Directorates and Technical Review Branches fields, be sure that data is entered according to the standard abbreviation list.
If data is entered incorrectly, reports that are indexed on these fields j
will be wrong. The following is an explanation of each function on the TACMAN master menu:
1.
Edit Records from First Record On....
To edit or modify the data contained in the PC for existing licensing actions or work items, the user can begin with the
first record and edit sequentially. (This is a slow process since you can only advance 1 record at a time and should only be used for " mass" editing.)
2.
Edit Records by Record Number To edit or modify the data contained in the PC, the user can go directly to the existing ~1icensing action or work item by entering the associated Record Number for a given LA or work item.
3.
Edit Records by TAC number To edit or modify the data contained in the PC for existing licensing actions or work items, the user can go directly to the licensing action by entering the TAC number or work item ID.
4.
Add New Records Upon receipt of a new licensing action or work item, enter.all appropriate data associated with the TAC number or work item ID-
- number, i
4 5.
Delete Selected Records Entirely This program allows the user to mark records for deletion and delete them at your convenience. This option is rarely used.
The deletion screen-looks like this:
1.
Enter database for record marking 2.
Delete marked records in database 3.
Return to Master Menu To access the appropriate selection item, enter selection number j
when requested.
If Item #1 is entered, a database will appear starting with the first record.
If #2 is entered, marked records are deleted immediately.
l Note:
To mark and unmark records for deletion, use the Ctrl and U buttons simultaneously.
To record marking changes, use Ctrl and End Buttons.
I 6.
Send Completed TACS (04s) or Work Items to Done File When a PM or review branch has completed a licensing action or work item, the status code is "04."
To permanently store l
completed actions, this option is used. This is a good check to monitor completed work and store SALP ratings as well as comments regarding the specific licensing action.
.i 7.
Report Generator Menu To generate a report,. the user will find anothat menu describing the various reports available (See Section F, Generating Reports).

Should a PM prefer other reports, please see Charlie Miller.
G.
UPDATING DISKETTES Each PM and technical review branch will be responsible for updating of the diskettes. The Project Manager will be responsible for updating the status of each licensing action with input from the technical reviewers, whereas, the technical reviewer will be updating the status of current work items not related to a specific plant (e.g., topical report reviews, etc.). The procedures to be followed in updating the diskettes are:
PM and TR will update their diskette on a weekly basis. After the diskettes are updated, each PM/TR has the responsibility to have their updated diskettes to Lynne Sapp, Management Analyst, Director's Office by 1:00 P.M.
every Wednesday.
Remember, the management information system is only as viable as the accuracy of the PM's updates. After the changes are incor-porated into the division database, reports will be generated for manage-ment use. These reports will enable management to track current workload projections of their staff.
Diskettes will be returned to the appropriate personnel after the updates are made by the Director's Office.
H.
DISKETTE CARE I
Floppy diskettes require special care. The following are some Do's and Don't's.
s Dj,1 Label your diskettes by using a felt-tipped pen.
Pick up diskettes by the label.
Store the diskettes in their protection sleeves.
DON'TS i
DO NOT use a ballpoint pen to write on the label of the disks.
DO NOT touch the exposed diskettes in the holes of the protective jackets.
j j
DO NOT place diskettes near magnetic surfaces. Your work is saved in a magnetic code on diskettes.
If you place diskettes under a ringing telephone, or too close to your diskette delves, the magnetism will cause your work to be erased, j
00 NOT leave diskettes outside of the protective dust cover, or in a i
dusty area. Dust can scratch diskettes, making them unreadable.
i DO NOT expose the diskette to temperature extremes.
I DO NOT eat, drink, or smoke where microcomputers and diskettes are being used.
1 1
00 NOT bend or fold the diskette.
BACKUPS
)
Users must be aware that both diskettes and hard disk storage are subject to occasional damage or failure. Users should, therefore, be sure to make back-up copies of diskettes.
2
.~s Making A Backup Copy Backing up involves making copies of files so that in case a diskette is lost or damaged, there remains a copy of the diskette.
i 1.
Diskcopy Command The DISKCOPY command is used to duplicate one diskette onto another diskette. The target diskette is formatted, if necessary, during the copy. DISKCOPY is useful for making backup copies of disks.
If you DISKCOPY to an old disk which contains some files, these files will be overwritten.
To use this command, load the DOS System disk in drive A; enter the date and time; and input the following:
A> DISKCOPY A: 8:
The Diskcopy program tells you to place your original diskette into the "A" drive, and another diskette, the " target" diskette, into the "B" drive. When you are ready to proceed, strike any key on the keyboard.
The monitor will show:
A> DISKCOPY A: B:
Insert source diskette in drive A Insert target diskette in drive B Strike any key when ready When the copying is complete, the following will be displayed on your monitor:
_-_-------_--,----_---,-,--------.~..,-----.--------._x-r
Copy complete Copy another (Y/N)?
If you have more diskettes to copy, enter "y."
Otherwise, enter "n."
On the screen will appear the following message: Insert COMMAND. CON disk in drive A and strike any key when ready. After entering any key, the DOS prompt will appear: >A 2.
COPY A:*
- B:
Like the DISKCOPY command, this command is used to make backup copies of diskettes.
To use this command, the target' diskette must be formatted ahead of time. Unlike the DISKCOPY command, this command will not format the target diskette.
Unlike the DISKCOPY command, no files on the target diskette are erased.
Instead, if a file on the source diskette has the same file name (and extension) as a file on the target diskette, the file on the target diskette will be overwritten or replaced by-the file from the source diskette.
)
+
To use this command, place the source diskette in the "A" drive (left side), and the target diskette in the "B" drive (right side), and type the following:
A> Copy A:*.* B:
Press (j As files are copied, the file name and extension is listed on the 1
screen. When the copying is complete, the DOS prompt will be displayed on the screen:
