Approval of Use of ASME Code Case N-253-1 for Beaver Valley Unit 2 (TAC 63976)

This is in response to your letter dated December 12, 1986 requesting staff approval to use ASME Code Case N-253-1, " Construction of Class 2 or Class 3 Components for Elevated Temperature Service,Section III, Division 1."

The subject Code Case is an acceptable one and is hereby approved for use at Beaver Valley Unit 2 for the emeroency diesel generator exhaust. You should note that later revisions of this Code Case have been issued and any future use should be based on the revision in effect at that time.

Furthennore,

You should document use of the Code Case in the FSAR.

Mr. J. Szyslowski of your staff has verbally indicated that use of Code Case N-253 for hydrocen recombiners be withdrawn pending a future revised submittal.
