SUBJECT:

MID-YEAR INSPECTION RESOURCE PLANNING MEETING -

BRAIDWOOD - REVISION 1

Dear Mr. Kingsley:

On November 4,1998, the NRC staff held an inspection resource planning meeting (IRPM).

The IRPM provided a coordinated mechanism for Region 111 to adjust inspection schedules, as needed, prior to the conclusion of the Plant Performance Review cycle in April 1999. to my letter dated December 2,1998, advised you of our planned inspection effort for the next 6 months at Braidwood.

Subsequent to my forwarding to you the planned inspection effort, your staff requested that the dates for the Engineering and Technical Support inspection scheduled in January be changed due to their unavailability. Additional change requests from other Region ll1 licensees resulted in the planned dates for both the Emergency Planning and Security inspections being changed.

Also, the Operational Assessment inspection, which was scheduled to review your corrective actions concerning configuration control problems, has been delayed. We recognized that new efforts have been initiated by your corporate and site staff to correct problems in this area. We have delayed the scheduled inspection in this area to allow for your staffs' review and corrective actions to be completed. The revised dates for all four inspections are reflected in the enclosure. The revised dates have been discussed with Mr. K. Schwartz of your Braidwood staff.

We willinform you of any additional changes to the inspection plan. If you have any questions, please contact me at 630/829-9637.
