Issuance of Draft Environmental Statement - South Texas Project, Units I and 2 Enclosed for your review and comment and those on the attached list are copies of the Draft Environmental Statement related.to the operation of the South-Texas Project, Units 1 and 2.

The statement was prepared by my staff in accordance with the statement of general policy and procedure on ' implementation of the National Environmental Policy Act of 1969, as set forth in the Commission's regulations,10 CFR Part 51. The statement has today been sent to the Environmental Protection Agency and notice of its availability is.being forwarded to the Office of the Federal Register for publication. Comments will be due within 45 days after publication in the Federal Register of the Environmental Protection Agency's listing notifying the public of issuance of the impact statement.

Also enclosed for your information is a copy of the Commission's related. Federal Register Notice.
