This special report is submitted in accordance with Technical Specifications l
Section 3.7.10. "Fire Rated Assemblies." On September 16, 1988 Virgil C.

Summer Nuclear Station was shutdown for the fourth refueling outage.
In f
support of this outage, the fire barriers identified below have been inoperable for greater than seven (7) days. The operability checks of fire I
detectors and establishment of fire watch patrols for the inoperable fire barriers were performed in compliance with Action Statement (a) of the above I
referenced Technical Specification.
1 Fire Doors PA301, AB401 and RB303 were opened September 24. September 28 and October 1, respectively, to facilitate personnel access to the Reactor

Building. These barriers are expected to remain degraded for the duration of j
the outage.
