DPR-42 50-306 DPR-60 Request for Meeting With NRC Staff Related to Project for Addition of Two Emergency Diesel Generators The purpose of this letter is to request a meeting with the NRC Staff to discuss our preliminary plans for the addition of two new safety related emergency diesel generators at the Prairie Island Nuclear Generating Plant.
The new emergency diesel generators are intended to improve the flexi-bility and reliability of the emergency power system, provide an al-ternate ac power capability to meet NRC station blackout requirements, and provided additional flexibility in the plant cooling water system.
This modification will require NRC Staff review and approval since changes to the Technical Specifications will be required, Because of the cost and complexity of this modification, it is important for us to solicit input from the NRC Staff early in the project.
If possi-ble, a meeting in June, 1988 with the Staff is requested.
A prelimi-nary agenda for this meeting is attached.
Please contact us if you have any questions related to our request.
