ISSUANCE OF AMENDMENT NO 6 TO FACILITY LICENSE NO. R-112 - REED COLLEGE (TAC NO. MA2364)
Dear Mr. Frantz:
The Commission has issued the enclosed Amendment No. 6 to Facility License No. R-112 for the Ree.1 College TRIGA Research Reactor. The amendment consists of changes to the facility Technical Specifications (TSs) in response to the Reed College submittal of July 2, 1998, as amended on August 18,1998.
The amendment includes (1) addition of a definition of allowable surveillance time periods, (2) increase in the time period allowe:I to complete fuel inspection, (3) correction and editorial changes, (4) the use of stainless steel clad control rods rather than just aluminum clad control rods, and (5) the use of any gamma sensitive dose rate meter, rather than just a portable gamma sensitive ion chamber, with the Radiation Area Monitor out of service.
A copy of the related safety evaluation supporting Amendment No. O is also enclosed.
