This refers to the performance appraisal conducted by Dr. J. B. Nicholes of this office during November 2-3, 1987, for the NRC/ State cf Texas Environmental Monitoring Cooperative Agreement around Comanche Peak Steam Electric Station reactor site and the South Texas Project-reactor site, and to the discussion of the appraisal results with you and members of your staff at the conclusion of the appraisal on November 3, 1987.
Based on the appraisal resuits, the state of Texas Department of Health has satisfied the general conditions of the cooperative agreement.
As per conditions set forth in the cooperative agreement, on October 28, 1987, the Texas Department of Health requested that NRC Contract No. 31-83-671 be terminated on December 31, 1987. As a result of this appraisal and discussions with the Texas Bureau of Radiation Control personnel, the existing NRC/ State of Texas Environmental Monitoring Cooperative Agreement NRC-31<83-671, starting Jacuary 1,1988, will be modified to delete the requirements for environmental media sample collect.on and analyses and retain only the responsibility to maintain the NRC thermoluminescent dosimeter (TLD) direct radiation monitoring networks around the Comanche Peak Steam Electric Station reactor site and the South Texas Project reactor site.
