This refers to the investigation conducted by a representative of the Region I (Philadelphia) office at the Limerick Generating. Station, Unit
- 1. Limerick, Pennsylvania, of. activities au'thorized by NRC License No.
CPPR-106.
During this investigation conducted on October 4 and 5,1978, the following apparent. item of noncompliance was identified.
10 CFR.50, Appendix B, Criterion IX, requires that-welding be accomplished in accordance with criteria and special requirements.
.The Limerick PSAR, Appendix 0, Quality Assurance Program, Paragraph j
D.6.3,. specifies that inspections will be performed on procured I
items to assure compliance with specification requirements.
P&H Drawing No. 28A13615, sheet 1, Revision C, of the Reactor Building Crane, view B-B and Detail "A" specifies that the weld
' joint between_ the tie-plates (part No.18) and the box girder be a 45" double-bevel-grooveweld with a 3/8" prepared chamfer on each l
side.
Contrary to the above, on October 4,1978, it was determined that the reactor building crane tie-plate to box girder welds are fillet welds.
This item is an infraction.
