Additional Information Concerning Material License Gentlemen:
This is to confirm my telegram of this date stating that the 543 Company is not a source distributor but only transfers sources between the Amersham Corporation Arlington Heights, Illinois, and customer plant installations.
It will be necessary to hold sources for periods incident to servicing of ash meter, replacement of sources, and possible return to Amersham af described previously.
Should the description of the MERC Storage Vault be insufficient as described in my letter of 7/22/80, the following additional description is submitted: Referring to the line drawing sketch of the radioisotope labora-tory dated 7/28/77, and with reference to paragraphs 4.5.4 and 4.5.2, the vault B-19 is a closet-size floor-to-ceiling compartment with padlocked door providing storage space of lead pigs surrounded by lead bricks. Access to the vault is by padlock key retained with the laboratory entrance key, both maintained in the separate company office, availabic only to Robert f. Stewart.
The vault and Radiation Safety Manual datei May 1977 are planned for expansion in future years to possible larger opc.ations with provisions in the vault for installation of a vertical double-walled storage pipe some fourteen feet underground. This storage vault pipe has not yet been installed nor is it appropriate for current activities.
We believe this completes all information requested by phone and letter concerning the current amendment. Separately conments will be made to John Philips concerning the July 7 Regulatory Flexibility Act questionnaire.
