Supplementary information: The Nuc' lear Regulatory Commission has scheduled a workshop on, SEALED SOURCE AND DEVICE EVALUATIONS, to be held April 7-11,1997 at NRC Headquarters in Rockville, Maryland. The workshop will cover fundamental aspects of sealed source and device evaluations and provide an opportunity for small group i
interaction on actual casework from NRC arm Agreement State applications.
To be effective, class size will be limited to 16 participants. In addition, each participant will be asked to select cases from their State's file and send them to us for review and i
possible inclusion in the casework portion of this workshop. These cases may be E
amendments or new actions. Participants will also be expected to pre-read the following documents in preparation for this workshop: (1) NRC NUREG-1550, Standard Review Plan for Sealed Source and Device Evaluations, (2) NRC Regulatory Guide 6.9 on Vendor Quality Assurance Programs, (3) ANSI standards for sources and devices, (4) Regulatory Guides 10.10 and 10.11, and (5) 10 CFR 32.210.
Due to restrictions on workshop size, priority pil be given to Agreement State staff assigned to evaluate sealed source and devica %plications who did not attend the t'
previous workshop. Persons who attended the last workshop will be considered on a j,,
space available basis. Each Agreement State will be responsible for travel and per diem j{
expenses for their respective attendees. Applications (see enclosed) for this workshop i
should be submitted by February 21,1997. When submitting an application, the State should indicate that funds are available for travel and per diem expenses. There is no tuition cost for this workshop.
