This route request is for a shipment of irradiated reactor 4
fuel rods from Three Mile Island (TMI) Nuclear Power Station Middletown, PA to Vallecitos Nuclear Center, Pleasanton, CA.
GE Nuclear Energy has been contracted by TMI to'obtain the routing approval and make all necessary arrangements for this shipment on their behalf.
4 The proposed shipments consists of irradiated pressure water reactor (PWR) fuel rods.
These fuel rods are part of a research and development program sponsored by EPRI.
The j
details of this shipment will be provided under separate covers as required per 10 CFR 73.37 prior to the shipment.
GPU Nuclear Corporation, TMI will assume responsibility as l'
the shipper using the route as approved by the NRC.
General Electric will make arrangements on behalf of TMI to acquire armed escorts per 10 CFR 73.37 through the heavily populated areas identified.
