On July 8-12, 1985, NRC inspected activities authorized by NRC Operating License

No. NPF-29 for your Grand Gulf facility. At the conclusion of the inspection,

the findings were discussed with those members of your staff identified in the

enclosed inspection report,

Areas examined during the inspection are identified in the report. Within these

areas, the inspection consisted of selective examinations of procedures and

j

representative records, interviews with personnel, and observation of activities

[

in progress.

The inspection findings indicate that certain activities violated NRC require-

!

ments. The violations, references to pertinent requirements, and elements to be

f

j

included in your response are presented in the enclosed Notice of Violation.

!

In addition to the need for corrective action regarding specific matters

i

t

!

identified in the enclosed hotice, we are concerned about the effectivenss of

t

the implementation of your radiation protection program as demonstrated by this

,

!

situation. Consequently, your response should describe those particular actions

[

l

taken or planned to improve the effectiveness of your program.

I

Your attention is invited to an unresolved item identified in the inspection

report. This matter will be pursued during future inspections.
