SUMMARY
OF MAY 1, 2020, PUBLIC MEETING WITH NUCLEAR ENERGY INSTITUTE REGARDING INFORMATIONAL NEEDS DURING TSTF-505 LICENSE AMENDMENT REQUEST REVIEWS On May 1, 2020, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff held a public teleconference1 with representatives from the Nuclear Energy Institute (NEI) and others. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the information needs encountered by the NRC staff in reviewing license amendment requests to implement a risk-informed completion time program in accordance with Technical Specification Task Force Traveler 505 (TSTF-505), Provide Risk-Informed Extended Compeltion Times - RITSTF Initiative 4b. The questions to be discussed were previously made public for a March 2, 2020, public meeting between the NRC and the TSTF.2 At the begininning of the meeting, the NRC staff identified that further interaction was needed on requests for additional information (RAIs) 3, 7, 8, 9, and 10.
General mutual understanding was achieved regarding RAIs 3, 7, 8, and 9. Additional discussion was necessary concerning RAI 10. Industry representatives questioned the level of detail NRC would expect to make its decisions on licensee request.
No regulatory decisions were made in the meeting.
Following the discussion, an opportunity was afforded to any other participants who wished to ask questions or make comments. No questions or comments were received from the public.
