s cQE'[o" October 23, 1984 MEMORANDUM FOR:

William J. Dircks Executive Director for Operations FROM:

James K. Asselstine

SUBJECT:

UPDATE ON ACCIDENT SOURCE TERM REASSESSMENT (SECY-84-395)

SECY-84-395 indicates that an NRC contractor is estimating the source terms for the various types of containments, excluding the Mark II containment.

Since there are approximately equal numbers of Mark II containments and ice condenser containments and both are significantly larger in number than Mark III's, I would appreciate learning why the Mark II containment is apparently not being considered in the source term effort.
