SUBJECT:

USE OF ASME CODE CASE N-401 FOR THE BEAVER VALLEY POWER STATION, UNIT NO.1, DOCKET NO. 50-334 --

The Mechanical Engineering Branch has completed its review of the Duquesne Light Company request for authorization to use ASME Code Case N-401 for application in steam generator tube examinations for Beaver Valley Power Station Unit No. 1, Docket No. 50-334.

Code Case N-401, " Eddy Current Examination Recording Data,Section XI, Division 1," is an acceptable Code Case and is approved by the Commission for general use and may be used in the data recording and storage of Eddy Current examinations of steam generator tubes for Beaver Vally Power Station Unit No. 1.

Code Case N-401 is approved as written with no additional requirements other than those specified in the Code Case. This Code Case will be identified as acceptable in a future reviston of Regulatory Guide 1.147.

Use of the Code Case should be documented in a future Amendment to the FSAR.
