ReliefRequest Gentlemen:
This letter provides supplemental information to Relief Request HCS-PTRR-1, Rev. 0 which was submitted in a letter dated March 18,1996 (NMP2L 1618) and revised by another letter dated August 8,1996 (NMP2L 1650). The supplemental information provided by this letter is in response to matters discussed with the Staff during telephone conferences on August 27, 1996.
In addition to the proposed alternate examination of Relief Request HCS-PTRR-1, the Class 2 components of the Hydrogen Recombiner System (HCS) will be subject to an inspection under i
pressure at least every 40 months. The inspection will consist of a walkdown of the accessible portions of the HCS outside of primary containment to determine by visual and audible observation the structuralintegrity and condition of the system, Accessible portions of HCS are defined as those portions of the system which do not require the erection of scaffolding, either require the removal of insulation nor constitute a hardship in maintaining radiological doses as low as reasonably achievable (ALARA) to perform an inspection.
