Enclosed please find a copy of a letter which I have received from Mr. Herbert Jaffe, Freeport, New York.
As you will note,-Mr. Jaffe is. greatly concerned with a letter he received from you concerning his request for a copy of the manual or~ handbook which describes the requirements and testing procedures specified by the NRC for the diesel generators for emergency power at LILCO's Shoreham plant.
Due to the fact that in your response to Mr. Jaffe's request you maintain that such a manual "might" exist in the NRC's Public Document Room in Washington I am respectfully requesting in behalf of Mr. Jaffe, that you make a thorough check of this Public Document Room to establish more-definitely if such a manual does.in fact exist.
Your prompt attention to this matter would be greatly appreciated.
