Subject:

NUREG 0612: Control of Heavy loads

Dear Sir:

By letter of July 13, 1983, Boston Edison (8Eco) transmitted a report to the NRC on the control of heavy loads at Pilgrim Station.

In that letter we comunitted to complete all modifications and procedure emplacements by December 31, 1984.

To reduce excessive plant man-loading during refueling outage #6, and to ensure that the NUREG 0612 modifications would be performed in an optimal manner, we intended to begin the modifications at the conclusion of the outage. The extent of the outage has impacted that plan.

The design of the modifications is nearly complete; however, the design review process and the time needed for material procurement compels us to revise the completion date to July 1, 1985.

Very truly yours, a
