Byron Generating Station Units 1 and 2 Reactor Shield Wall Structural Analysis NRC Docket Nos. 50-454 and 50-455
Dear Mr. Keppler:
This letter documents the agreement reached on May 23, 1984 regarding confirmatory structural analysis of the reactor shield wall at Byron Station.
This analysis is being performed to address comments made by Mr. Jim Muffet of your office, during an inspection This letter at Sargent & Lundy regarding Byron design activities.
is submitted at the request of Mr. D. W. Hayes.
The exit meeting on May 23, 1984 was held to discuss Mr.
Muffet's review of the reactor shield wall, primary shield wall and fill slab structural design calculations.
Sargent & Lundy agreed to perform the following additional work to verify the adequacy of previous calculations:
1.
Complete work on the primary shield wall final load check model that includes a portion of the fill slab around the primary shield wall.
Account for the non-axisymmetric restraint of the primary 2.
shield wall for thermal loading.
Perform further analysis to verify the methods used to 3.
distribute seismic loads to the primary shield wall.
Clarify the reactor shield wall calculations to show there 4.
is no overstressed condition for design basis loadings.
