Mr. Harold R. Denton, Director Office of Nuclear Reactor RecJulation U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Washington, D.C. 20555

Dear Mr. Denton:

ULNRC-830 DOCKET NUMBER 50-483 CALLAWAY PLANT CULTURAL RESOURCES

References:

1.

NRC letter dated December 24, 1980 from B. J. Youngblood 2.-

Section 5.7, page 5-17, Final Environmental Statement, NUREG-0813, January 1982 Enclosed are five copies of the. updated cultural resources reports for the Callaway Plant.

These reports are:

" Phase I Cultural Resources Survey and Assessment on Residual Lands at Union Electric Company's Callaway Nuclear Power Plant, Callaway County, Missouri" and "A Cultural Resources Management Plan for Residual Lands at Union Electric Company's Callaway Nuclear Power Plant, Callaway County, Missouri" These complete our commitments for surveying Union Electric lands at Callaway.

We are continuing in our efforts to resolve the status of three_potentially significant sites falling within the plant's operation and maintenance zones.

These three sites will be nominated to the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) and will be investigated, if necessary, using Phase II survey techniques to determine NRHP eligibility.

The requirements for this nomination procedure will be outlined in the Environmental Protection Plan (EPP), Appendix B of the Callaway Operating License.

Very truly yours, 8405310213 8405238 PDR ADOCK 05 D
